The Emmy Destinn Foundation in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London would like to offer you the chance to experience a unique interpretation of the Czech Christmas classic Jakub Jan Ryba´s Czech Christmas Mass.

With Czech and English musicians and members of The Parliament Choir.

Friday 6th December 2013 at 7pm

Second Church, 104 Palace Gardens Terrace, Notting Hill Gate, London, W8 4RT

Following the concert, there will be a Christmas party at the Embassy with traditional food, Moravian wines and carol singing.

Ryba´s Czech Christmas Mass was first performed at Midnight Mass on 24 December 1796 in Czech language. Although nowadays performed usually with an orchestra, it was composed for an organ, accompanied by traditional folk instruments. A musical symbol of Czech Christmas, this beautiful oratorio, commonly known by its first words ´Hey, Master´, resounds from hundreds of churches and magically conjures up the idyll of old-world Christmas.
