Deputy Foreign Minister Jiri Schneider visited London

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and State Secretary for European Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Jiri Schneider visited London on December 14. He met with David Lidington, Minister of State responsible for European issues and NATO. They dicussed the situation in Eurozone and current issues. Mr. Schneider spoke about the euro crisis from the Central European perspective at a working breakfast at the Centre for European Reform followed by round-table discussion with British intellectuals, representatives of think-tanks, members of academia and media editors.

 During the working breakfast at the Centre for European Reform, State Secretary Jiri Schneider discussed the euro crisis and two-speed EU from the perspective of Central Europe. The discussion was chaired by Charles Grant, CER director, Simon Tilford, CER chief economist, and Tomas Valasek, CER director for foreign affairs and defence.

At the FCO Mr. Schneider met with David Lidington, Minister of State responsible for European issues and NATO. They discussed the situation in the Eurozone and perspectives for its settlement and the future of the European integration. Ministers Schneider and Lidington also debated the EU Neighbourhood policy, especially the Eastern Partnership, and current issues.
