Czech Presidency launched in Scotland

Czech Ambassador presented priorities for the next six months in the Scottish parliament and officially launched the Czech EU Presidency in Scotland


In Edinburgh the Ambassador was welcomed by the European and External Relations Committee and gave a public address setting out the priorities of the current Czech Presidency of the European Union. MSPs and members of the public had the opportunity to pose questions. The address by Mr Winkler was open to the public and televised live on Holyrood.tv. The meeting was presided by Irene Oldfather MSP, Convener of the European and External Relations Committee.

During the visit, the Ambassador met Mr Alex Fergusson, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament. He also met Mr Johan Lamong MSP, Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party, Ms Annabel Goldie, Leader of the Scottish & Conservative Unionist Party and Tavish Scott, Leader of Scottish Liberal Democrat Party.

In the evening Mr Winkler opened a joint reception of the Embassy of the Czech Republic and EC Representation for Scotland which officially launched the Czech EU Presidency in Scotland.
