Czech senators in London

On 28-30 March, 2011 a delegation of Czech senators of the Committee for EU Affairs visited London

The Committee for EU Affairs of the Czech Republic´s Senate was represented by Luděk Sefzig (chair), Miroslav Krejča (deputy chair), Jana Juřenčáková and Miroslav Škaloud. They met Andrew Dalgleish, Director of EU Affairs of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Later they visited the Chatham House and talked to the executive director Robin Niblett.

On the next day the delegation held meetings in Westminster. First the senators met the EU Select Committee (House of Lords) chaired by Lord Roper and members Lord Hannay, Lord Bowness, Lord Harrison and Barones O´Cathain. After working lunch the senators talked to Greg Hands MP, chair of the All-Parliamentary Party Group for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Later they met the chairman of the European Scrutiny Committee Bill Cash together with Kelvin Hopkins, member of the Committee.

The closing meeting of the Senate delegation was with David Lidington, Minister for EU Affairs, FCO. Ambassador Žantovský held a small function on the ocassion of the senators´ visit.
