Czech Ambassador laid flowers to Jan Palach's memorial in Velehrad, London.

On 19 January 2011 the Ambassador Michael Žantovský laid flowers to a memorial of Jan Palach in Velehrad, West London. The Czech student commited suicide by self-immolation 42 years ago, in1969 in Prague as a political protest against the Warsaw Pact armies invasion to Czechoslovakia and lack of people’s resistance.

The Ambassador was joined by Marian and Karel Verner and Mr Antonín Stáně, Velehrad representative. Together they stood in a minute of silence to remember Palach’s ultimate sacrifice to freedom.
