Jiří Dienstbier, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs died

With great sadness, the Embassy of the Czech Republic wishes to inform that Jiri Dienstbier, the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czechoslovakia after the Velvet Revolution, died on Saturday 8 January in Prague
Czech Senator Jiří Dienstbier, Czechoslovakia’s first post-1989 fMinister of Foreign Affairs, former dissident and journalist , Charter 77 signator, has died after suffering from a long illness, aged 73. He headed the Senate's Committee for foreign affairs, defence and security, and was a member of the Senate commission for the constitution.
A memorial act will be held in Valdstejn palace, seat of the Senate in Prague on Friday, 14 January.
