On August 2, the anniversary of the annihilation of the Gypsy Camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau, representatives of the Embassy joined leaders of Czech Roma organizations in the UK and their friends in the Holocaust Memorial Garden in Hyde Park to commemorate thousands of Roma murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators during the German occupation of the Czech lands
Remembering the outrages of the past, Roma representatives voiced their concern over current neo-Nazi and anti-Roma extremism and urged the Czech government to take strong action against those who stir up racial hatred.
