(This article expired 28.01.2016.)

The Czech Embassy together with the British Czech and Slovak Association commemorated the International Holocaust Remembrance day with a documentary film "Short Long Journey" by Fedor Gál. The screening was held at the Czech Embassy in London on January 26.

Arrested in October 1944 along with his family, Vojtěch Gál perished in April 1945 in the course of a "death march" from Sachsenhausen concentration camp. In tracing his father´s last journey in this outstanding documentary, Fedor Gál evokes "the story of the whole era".

Born in Terezín a month before his father´s death, Fedor Gál was one of the leading figures during Slovakia´s 1989 revolution and first chairman of Public Against Violence, the civic movement that led to the revolution.

Fedor Gál and the director of the film, Martin Hanzlíček, were introduced by Ambassador Michael Žantovský.
