UK Premiere of Václav Havel´s debut film "Leaving"

Václav Havel´s directorial debut Leaving was premiered in London on November 15. The UK Premiere was organized in cooperation of the Czech Centre and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the famous Gate cinema in Notting Hill. After the screening, the lead actor Josef Abrham and the producer Jaroslav Boucek shared their experiences in a discussion chaired by the Ambassador Michael Zantovsky.

Chancellor Rieger is leaving office and also a villa that has become home to his family. While sorting out what is his and what is not, he also takes an inventory of his relationships with people, mainly his mistress, daughter, former secretary and the former secretary to his former secretary, who are manipulating him...

Václav Havel´s directorial debut with his own stage play echoes both King Lear and the Cherry Orchad and is an intimate drama about the loss of power full of humor, autobiographical elements and irony.
