INFORMATION REGARDING GENEALOGY RESEARCH
The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles has the honor to inform you about genealogical research done at the State Archives.
Such research is based on vital statistic registers (of birth, marriage and death) and can provide you with information about names of persons, date and place of their birth, marriage and death, information about their parents, their parents´ professions (only those listed on the Birth Certificate), names of their wives or husbands and names of the witnesses of the marriage (only those listed on Marriage Certificate), cause of death (only that listed on Death Certificate), etc.
The enclosed Application For Genealogical Research should be sent directly to:
Ministerstvo vnitra ČR (Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic)

Telephone: 011-420-2-33320274, 3121049, or 24321621; Fax: 011-420-2-3121049
An applicant for a research study must include all available data. Without such data research is either impossible or calls for more time and therefore is more expensive. If an applicant has originals of registrar's certificates, he may greatly facilitate research by enclosing photocopies with his application for research study. The time required for processing of applications depends on the difficulty and complexity of the research study. Applicants can also ask for translation of documents for a fee of about $5.00 per page, as well as for a map from the place where the applicant´s ancestors lived.
Research studies from Archives will be forwarded to applicants through the company Archivex Praha, P.O. Box 38, 182 00 Praha 8, Czech Republic, telephone 011-420-2-6890970 or 876872, fax 011-420-2-6890970, or 877907, upon receipt of the charged amount. You can use as a payment method International Money Order, a check made payable to Archivex Praha, a certified check, or cash mailed by registered mail. The cost of genealogical research depends on the amount of time spent on it and its difficulty, generally $10.00-$14.00 per hour, plus $8.00 as an administrative fee. Additional expenses will be incurred for reproductions (microfilms, photocopies etc.).
Researchers wishing to study in the State Archives in the Czech Republic personally should apply for admission at the above stated contact address of the Administration of Archives, or directly at the appropriate State Regional Archives listed below:
