Bishop Esterka celebrates 50th anniversary of his ordination

Czech bishop Peter Esterka long living in Orange County, celebrated on Sunday, March 10, 2013 50th golden anniversary of his ordination. Bishop Esterka prayed on this occasion on ceremonial mass in the John Paul II Center in Yorba Linda, California. The Mass was also attended by Bishop Kevin Vann (pictured with Father Ester) and Bishop Dominic Luong as representatives of the Catholic Diocese of Orange County.
The Mass was followed by amply visited celebration with more than a hundred guests from all over Southern California including the Consul General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles Michal Sedlacek.
“I very well remember the day of March 9, 1963, when I was ordained" bishop Esterka said during the Mass and he continued," on the ordination. I was the only Czech with Irishmen and Italians, so I felt a little alone. "Favorite Bishop Esterka who after many years served as bishop for all Czech Catholics in North America and Australia, formally at the occasion of his 75 birthday resigned to his title.and Rome, however, asked him to temporarily perform in the future."I am very happy that now after 50 years I can celebrate my ordination here in California, where created a very nice Czech Catholic community," has been created, smiling Bishop added.
