Celebration of Czechoslovakian statehood in San Diego

On October 14, the House of Czech and Slovak Republics celebrated the October 1918 founding of their country of origin.
Festivities included traditional folk dance and music, performed among others by a popular dance group Karyska. Participating in the celebration was Consul General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles Michal Sedláček together with Vice-Consul of the Slovak Republic, Daniel Ország. Both dignitaries officially started the culutral event with welcome speeches.
Adjacetnly in Balboa Park, traditional Czech baked goods and sausages were available to purchase. There was a strong response of interest from the general public.
The House of Czech and Slovak Republics is open every Sunday from noon until 4:00 pm in the Hall of Nations in Balboa Park, San Diego. In addition, there is a special meeting of compatriots every second Sunday of the month. A light lunch of Czech sausages with traditional pastry desserts are served to attendees.
