Festival Dedicated to Václav Havel successfully launched!

The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles would like to invite you to participate in the 2013 Mutual Inspirations festival, which takes place this fall and honors the late Václav Havel, legendary dissident, successful playwright, and the first President of the Czech Republic.
The festivities officially kicked-off with a packed screening of Václav Havel’s directorial debut “Leaving”(“Odcházení,“ 2011) that took place at Wende Museum on Sepbember 15, 2013. LA County supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky delivered opening remarks and described his personal meetings with Havel. Consul General Michal Sedláček underlined in his speech Havel’s role in defending and promoting humans rights and freedom even in darkest days of communist dictatorship.
The celebration of Václav Havel and his work will continue with a performance od Edward Einhorn’s Untitled Theater Company # 61 from New York City. The show will comprise of series of monologues from various Havel’s plays, interspersed with commentary on Havel and his works. The theater performance will take place on September 29, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the residence of Consul General and will be followed by a reception.
The other events include Exhibition and lecture dedicated to Havel at UCLA Powell Rotunda (Opening - October 8, 2013 at 3 p.m.) and several screenings at the Czech Consulate in LA of documentaries about Havel and his work (October 16 and October 23).
