The Czech Republic has urged for a strong action to stop systematic human rights violations and crimes against humanity in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) reported recently by the UN Commission of Inquiry (CoI).
“The international community must accept its responsibility to protect the people of the DPRK,” Ambassador Kateřina Sequensová said at the interactive dialogue with the CoI on 17 March 2014. The Czech Republic supports referral of the situation in the DPRK to the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court, she added. The Czech intervention has also urged the DPRK to release immediately and unconditionally all political prisoners and bring perpetrators of numerous reported human rights violation and atrocities to justice.
