The Czech Republic expressed its deep concern by the widespread and systematic violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in Syria.
During its intervention in the interactive dialogue with the commission of inquiry on Syria it further reiterated the need for all sides to fully implement the Security Council resolution 2139 on the humanitarian assistance. It stressed, once again, the importance of accountability for the crimes committed, including through a referral of the situation to the International Criminal Court. In conclusion, the Czech Republic stressed the need of a political solution for Syria and expressed its concern that this solution was undermined by the 3 June Presidential elections.
