HRC: The Czech Republic takes steering role at the Council

The Czech Republic has assumed a leadership role in the UN Human Rights Council (HRC).

Serving the last year of its HRC membership (2011-2014), the Czech Republic has been selected as one of the four Vice-Presidents. The HRC President, Gabon‘s Ambassador Baudelaire Ndong Ella, Czech Ambassador Kateřina Sequensová and Ambassadors of Argentina, India and Italy are entrusted with the important task of steering this principal human rights body throughout 2014. The Czech Ambassador serves also as a Rapporteur of the HRC. Selection for the prestigious Vice-President post is a token of the importance the Czech Republic attaches to the protection and promotion of human rights worldwide. It is also an acknowledgement of the Czech Republic’s active work at human rights fora in Geneva.
