HRC27: The Czech Republic on prosecutors in transitional situations

In the Interactive Dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the promotion of truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-recurrence, Pablo de Greiff, the Czech Republic highlighted the independence and impartiality of prosecutors as factors that have a direct impact on the legitimacy and effectiveness of the domestic prosecutorial strategy in transitional situations.
The Czech Republic further expressed its concerns related to patterns when the main concentration is focused on charges making the State appear the ultimate victim of the majority of violations. It is equally important to avoid one-sided prosecutorial strategies that pursue deliberate focusing on investigating and prosecuting violations committed by one side of the conflict only.
