Human Rights Council: The Czech Republic makes a statement during a general debate on human rights situations that require the attention of the Human Rights Council

During its 20th Session the Human Rights Council held its general debate on human rights situations that require the Council’s attention.
In addition to the standard alignment with the European Union intervention, the delegation of the Czech Republic participated in general debate with its national statement. The Czech Republic focused its attention on the following countries: Syria, Eritrea, Belarus, South Sudan, Sudan, China, North Korea (DPRK) and Iran. The delegation also critically mentioned persecution of concrete individuals: the Chinese Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mr. Liu Xiaobo, poet Mr. Zhu Yufu, human rights defender Ms. Ni Yulan and her husband Dong Jiqin; the Iranian human rights defenders, Ms. Narges Mohammadi, Mr. Abdolfatah Soltani and Mr. Mohammad Ali Dadakh.
