Human Rights Council: The Czech Republic makes a statement during a general debate on the annual report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

The Human Rights Council opened its twenty-first regular session, hearing an address by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in which she updated the Council on the activities of her Office, followed by a general debate (10 September 2012).

In addition to the standard alignment with the European Union intervention, the delegation of the Czech Republic participated in a general debate with its national statement. The delegation welcomed that the High Commissioner and her Office continue to focus on a number of specific situations of concern around the world, commended support for the mechanism of the Universal Periodic Review and appreciated her attention to the issue of reprisals against persons who cooperate with the United Nations in the field of human rights.
