The Czech Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Research and Innovation Pavel Bělobrádek accompanied by delegation – comprising of the Deputy Minister for Legislation and Strategy Petr Mlsna representing the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, representatives of government and private sector – visited the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), including deliberations with the Director General Rolf Heuer.

The delegation took advantage of the occasion for informal discussions with the CERN’s Czech community, especially in terms of experience sharing, lessons learned and feedback in conjunction with their work.

The participants had also a great opportunity to explore the underground research facilities of this unique international organization which has, among other contributions to the humankind, proven existence of the Higgs Boson – the very last piece in the puzzle of the Standard Model of particle physics – and gave the world the World Wide Web.

Besides the CERN experience, the delegates met diplomatic corps of the Czech Permanent Mission and explored a broad spectrum of activities, especially in the field of innovation, at the Geneva’s multilateral scene, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the World Economic Forum in particular.
