Statement of the Czech MFA on Yulia Tymoshenko’s situation

Ministry of Foreign Affaires of the Czech Republic has noted reports that Yulia Tymoshenko started a hunger strike as a response to her allegations that she was beaten during a transfer from her prison cell to a hospital on April 20.

The Ministry is seeking immediate clarification from Ukrainian authorities on the situation of Yulia Tymoshenko and asks that independent observers including the Head of EU Delegation Ambassador J. M. Pinto Teixeira and attorneys of Mrs. Tymoshenko are granted access to her as soon as possible and in sufficient manner.
