Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Jan Kohout on his official visit to Bhutan

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Jan Kohout visited Bhutan on 8 – 10 November 2013 during his South Asia regional trip.

Minister J. Kohout, who was accompanied to Bhutan by Deputy Minister of Environment Mr. Tomas Tesar, members of Senate, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Director of Prague Zoo, business delegation and media, during his stay in Bhutan was received by His Majesty King of Bhutan Jigme K. Namgyel Wangchuck, Her Majesty Queen Mother of Bhutan Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuk, Prime Minister Mr. T. Tobgay, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan Mr. Rinzin Dorji and Chaiman of National Environment Commission Mr. Ugyen Tschewang, with whom the Deputy Minister of Environment of the Czech Republic Mr. Tomas Tesar signed the Memorandum of Understanding about the cooperation in environment protection.

Minister J. Kohout also met with Chairman of Election commission and other representatives of Royal Government of Bhutan.

Accompanying business delegation took part in „Czech – Bhutanese Business Forum“ organized by Bhutanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry and also with representatives of main Bhutanese corporations „Singye Group of Companies“ and „Tashi Group“ with whom Czech entrepreneurs discussed the possible bilateral trade cooperation in the fields of energy, tourism, food processing, agriculture or automobiles.  

The Minister´s J. Kohout visit to Bhutan was the first ever visit of Czech minister to Bhutan, after establishing the diplomatic relations in December 2011, the visit therefore was an break-through visit in political and economic level.
