Czech Business delegation visited Nepal in February 2013

Delegation of 7 Czech companies, headed by Ambassador Mr. Miloslav Stašek, visited Nepal on 9 – 11 February 2012 with the aim to identify new areas for mutual cooperation between the Czech Republic and Nepal.

Business delegation consisted of companies Agile Europe, BM ContechInvest, Brematech, Eldis, CK Livingstone, Transcon a Vítkovice Machinery Group who are active in the area of energy and renewable energy, infrastructure, engineering, civil aviation, biomass and food processing and tourism which belong to highly potential areas of bilateral collaboration.

The delegation, headed by H.E. Mr. Miloslav Stašek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, held meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal Mr. Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Post Bahadur Bogati, Director of Nepal National Museum Mrs. Mandakini Shrestha, Secretary of Power Mr. Hari Ram Koirala, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Mr. Keshab Man Shakya, Kathmandu City Secretary General Mr. Kedar Bahadur Adhikari and Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal Mr. Arjun B. Thapa.

Czech companies had an opportunity to present their activities and had B2B meetings during the business forum organized by Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI).

Czech delegation also took part in inauguration of Together for the Cleaner Air“ project on 10th February 2013 between Skoda Auto Nepal and ICIMOD institution during which formal exchange of Agreement of MAW/ Skoda – ICIMOD Partnership for providing efficient bio-stoves to households in Makvanpur in amount of NRS 1 600 000,- took place.

The Czech delegation visited the ICIMOD (International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development) Godavari, regional intergovernmental learning and knowledge sharing centre, where the members learnt how ICIMOD assists mountain people to understand the climate and ecosystem changes and helps them adapt to the changes via use of e.g. solar or biomass energy.

The Czech delegation especially Explorer the opportunities in hydro energy sector in Nepal where only 800 MW are currently used out of 40 000 MW available. Prospects for bilateral cooperation lay also in infrastructure, mining, agriculture and food processing, tourism and municipal development (water and waste management etc.).
