Minister of Commerce Anand Sharma and „India Show“ in Brno

„India Show“, the highest level of presentation of Indian engineering companies abroad, was held in the Czech Republic - gateway to Central and East European markets. The Show coincided with MSV – International Engineering Fair at Brno on 10 - 14 September 2012. Union Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textile Mr. Anand Sharma led the Indian delegation composed of 135 companies which participated in the show.

The India Show, truly the first ever event of its kind and scope in Central Europe, has been inaugurated by Mr. Anand Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textile along with Mr. Martin Kuba, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic on 10th September 2012.

Minister Anand Sharma led a high level business delegation composed of 135 companies belonging primarily to India’s engineering sector of large, medium and the small segment.

„My visit to Indian exposition is the proof of India’s interest in the cooperation with the Czech Republic and its private sector. The Czech Republic is a gate to Central and Eastern Europe for India“, conveyed Minister Sharma in Brno.

Minister Sharma had a very busy programme in the Czech Republic. He held a bilateral meeting with his Czech counterpart during which both Ministers agreed to double bilateral trade in 3 years to reach the level of two billion dollars and discussed measures to deepen bilateral engagement in sectors of mutual interest such as mining, automotive, heavy industries, power generating equipment and technical textiles. Both Ministers agreed to launch Joint Working Groups in areas of skills and innovation, heavy engineering, and life sciences and pharmaceuticals.

Czech Minister of Industry and Trade M. Kuba announced that the Czech Republic will be a partner country to India Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) in March 2013.

Minister Sharma also called on the Czech President Mr. Vaclav Klaus, and on Czech Prime Minister Mr. Petr Necas with whom he discussed possibilities of widening our economic cooperation.

On the margins of MSV - International Engineering Fair, number of high profile bilateral events took place. 9th meeting of“ India – Czech Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation“ was held on 10th September, for the first time on the ministerial level and headed by Czech and Indian ministers of commerce and industry. „Czech – India Economic Forum“ and “Czech – Indian Technology Forum” took place on 11th September 2012 and „Czech – Indian Technology Day“ on 12th September 2012.

EEPC (Engineering Export Promotion Corporation) was the main organizer of India Show in the Czech Republic jointly with the Ministry of Commerce and Trade of the Czech Republic and sector associations.

MSV International Engineering Fair, Brno is the most important industrial fair in Central Europe. The fair hosts more than 1,500 exhibitors & brings inabout 80,000 visitors. More than 35 % of exhibitors & 10 % of visitors come from abroad.
