Chandigarh welcomed first „Czech Film Festival“

After the Czech film presentation in Bhutan in February 2014, first „Czech Film Festival“ took place also in Chandigarh on February 2 6 – 28, 2014. The film festival in Sangeet Natak Akademi was inaugurated by Ambassador of the Czech Republic Mr. Miloslav Stašek.
Czech Film Festival was organized within a broader cultural presentation of the Czech Republic in Chandigarh which constituted also of an exhibition „Brno / the city of Bauhaus spirit“.
Duting the Czech Film Festival, famous Czech films such as „Kolja“, „Grapes“ and „Girl in Blue“ were screened for the audience of more than 200 people every day.
Punjab belongs to the important centers of Indian film industry, often tagged as „Punjwood“. The golden age of Punjabi cinema was before the partition when the centre of film industry was in Lahore (now in Pakistan). Many outstanding film dynasties originated in Punjab, such as Kapoors. Punjabi dance influenced to a great extent the trends in current Indian film industry.
