“Czech Food Festival” in New Delhi attracted huge crowd of gourmets

The very first season of Czech Food Festival in New Delhi on October 10 – 16, 2011 managed to attract huge crowds of gourmets and Czech Republic fans. The event was organized by CzechTourism Agency in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in India and five-star Lalit Hotel in New Delhi. During the festival, Czech famous food and drink products were introduced to visitors and participants. Award winning chefs from the National Team of the Czech Chefs Association came to New Delhi to prepare traditional Czech dishes.
Chef Jan Horký (Golden Prague Restaurant in the Hotel InterContinental) and Chef Marek Svoboda (Gastro Studio Nowaco) prepared their Czech culinary specialties from 10th to 16th of October 2011 in opening ceremony in the garden premises of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi on 10th October 2011 and then in 24/7 restaurant in Lalit Hotel in New Delhi on 11th – 16th October 2011.
The festival could not happen without the renowned Czech herbal liquer Becherovka. The famous Czech beer brands like Budweiser, Pilsner Urquell or Staropramen have presented the best of Czech beers. In fact, not many people knows that Pilsner type beer has been invented in Czech city Pilsen in 1842 and from there it spread around the world and became the most famous type of beer. Czech wines were also widely presented during the event. The Prague most famous wines like Rieslings, Sauvignons, Pinot Gris and Noir from vineyards Santa Clara, Salabka were offered to taste to the participants during the opening evening of the festival. Also wines from Litomerice wineyards and famous award-winning Vinselekt Michlovský brought lots of attention. The Czech Republic team was also proud to present famous ginger bread from Pardubice, patés from Hamé, meat products from Kostelecke uzeniny, Olomouc cheese, Kolonoda Czech spa wafers or biscuits from Horice.
Visitors of the festival had an outstanding chance to win various attractive prices from Czech Republic, e.g. glass sets of famous Bohemia Crystals offered by Czech producer Crystalex.. The Gala Prize - offered by a partner organization of the festival SOTC - will take the winner to the beautiful Czech Republic’s capital, Prague.
The Czech Food Festival has been accompanied by astonishing live performance of the Czech Folklore Dulcimer Music which sweetened a journey to the Czech Republic.
