The Czech Embassy in Ottawa informs that due to a long-term planned technical reconstruction, the consular section will be closed from July 7 to July 21, 2009.

EU-Canada Summit in Prague

The EU-Canada Summit will take place in Prague on May 6, 2009. In accordance with the conclusions of the last Summit, the leaders of the EU and Canada are expected to launch negotiations toward a deepened economic partnership agreement. The EU and Canada are also expected to sign the Aviation Services Agreement. Both Agreements will significantly increase job opportunities, trade and revenues on both sides of the Atlantic.

Closing of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Vancouver

Embassy of the Czech Republic regrets to inform that the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Vancouver will cease its activities and will be closed by May 31, 2009. The last office day of the Honorary Consulate in Vancouver will be Friday, May 29, 2009. Starting from this date, all consular and visa services for the province of British Columbia will be provided by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Montreal.

Lidice for 21st Century Contest

The Lidice Memorial, the Military Historical Institute in Prague and the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University would like to announce its fourth year of knowledge contest for students from around the world under the name "Lidice for 21st Century ". The aim of the competition is to contribute to the preservation of the memory of Central-Bohemian village Lidice inhabitants, who were murdered by Nazis in 1942 and to extend knowledge of the youngest generation about historical events relating to the World War II and Nazi totalitarian regimes in the world in the 20th century.
