Government Program of Semester Studies at Czech Universities

Part of the government program aimed at Czechs living abroad offers 15 scholarships of one or two semesters at Czech public universities every year. The scholarships are designed for both undergraduates and graduates students with Czech origins. Following specializations are prefered: pedagogy, Czech language and literature, history, ethnology, art history and theology.

Part of the government program aimed at Czechs living abroad offers 15 scholarships of one or two semesters at Czech public universities every year. The scholarships are designed for both undergraduate and graduate students of Czech origin. Following specializations are prefered: teaching of Czech language and literature, history, ethnology, history of art or theology, thus specialisations supporting the maintenance of the Czech language and cooperation with the Czech communities.

Application forms are available at the Ministery of Foreign Relations at the Cultural Department or at all Czech Embassies abroad. Confirmation of a Czech community organisation is also part of the application form.

The deadline for winter semester is March 31 every year.
The deadline for summer semester is August 31 every year.

Students get a scholarship (currently 7.000,-Kč for undergraduate students, 7.500,-Kč for graduate students), accomodation and boarding is available at university facilities on equal terms as Czech students have. In case student is entitled a permanent resident status, he loses claim for scholaship. The health care during the period of study is ensured in the same range and under the same conditions as for Czech students.

Any student is obliged to apply for the study visa, but regarding the fact this is a government program, they can ask for the remission of the visa fee.
