Members of the Embassy at the Construction Site of the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre

(This article expired 15.11.2014.)

On 13 November 2013 Ambassador Blanka Fajkusová, Deputy Head of Mission Nicol Adamcová and consul Radek Nedvěd visited the construction site of the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre.

They were accompanied by Director of the Centre Mrs. Tali Nates and Mr. Lewis Levin, architect. The Centre will prominently feature events and stories from the Czech history during the World War II – for example life in the ghetto in Theresienstadt (Terezín), the assassination of the Deputy Reich Protector R. Heydrich and the destruction of the Lidice village. This year, the Embassy of the Czech Republic financed the copyrights for some of children drawings from Theresienstadt, which will be a part of the permanent exhibition there.

Embassy of the Czech Republic has a long standing cooperation with the Holocaust and Genocide Centres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. More on the South African Holocaust and Genocide Foundation.
