On 31 October 2014 an official hand-over of the small local development project of the Embassy of the Czech Republic took place in a special school Tshegofatsong in Mamelodi. In 2014, the school relied on Czech official development aid to acquire sewing machines and various material to be used in work therapy and training of the learners in woodwork, beadwork and sewing skills.
Part of the finances was also used to make adjustments in a container, provided by a Czech company, which is going to serve as a sheltered workshop for the graduates of the school, who have not found employment. Working in the sheltered workshop will help them to maintain the skills acquired and also get some income. The sum provided from the Czech official development funds was about 39 thousand ZAR.
At the occasion of the hand-over, the Embassy of the Czech Republic gave the school several DVDs with the popular Little Mole cartoons and a 2015 calendar with the same personage. As a special thank you for the co-operation, a small gift was prepared for the School Principal Mrs. Zanele Mkhize, who is retiring from her position.
