Czech parents and children meet at the Visegrad House

(This article expired 15.12.2014.)

In Cape Town a new initiative of Czech compatriots was born. Czech parents living in Cape Town decided to meet once a month at the Visegrad House in order to teach their children the Czech language and expose them to Czech culture.

The first meeting took place on 10 August 2014 and about 20 parents and 25 children participated. They read Czech children books, sang Czech songs and watched episodes of the popular Czech cartoon The Mole (Krteček). Some parents brought homemade Czech pastry, bábovka and strudel.

The teaching programme is prepared in collaboration with Czech compatriots, Ms. Lucie Grimmová (luciegrimova@gmail.com) and Ms. Zuzana Matoušová-Done (e-mail: new.beginnings.aid@gmail.com).

The next meeting will take place on 7 September 2014 between 10h00 – 13h00. Any Czech parents with young kids are welcome to join!

In the enclosed gallery please find photos from the first meeting.
