Czech official funding allowed People in Need to implement a small-scale local project in Cuemba district.
120 women from the areas of Sashinemuna, Munhango and Luando enrolled into literacy courses that ran for 8 months. At the end of the term, 90 women kept attending the courses on the regular basis. Further, six trained alphabetizators attended preparatory courses to upgrade their skills. During October 2012 there were also practical workshops on hygiene, disease prevention, childcare, nutrition, agriculture techniques and women's rights.
