Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic on the document "Enlargement Strategy and Main Challenges 2013-2014''

(This article expired 27.10.2016.)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic welcomes the European Commission´s "Enlargement Strategy and Main Challenges 2013-2014'' of 16 October 2013 and agrees with its general conclusions and recommendations as well as with the assessment of the progress made by individual candidate and potential candidate countries.

The Czech Republic welcomes the European Union´s June decision to start negotiations on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with Kosovo. A significant progress in the normalisation of mutual relations was a crucial step made by Kosovo and Serbia within the dialogue facilitated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy C. Ashton. We consider the inclusion of Kosovo in the European integration process eminently significant for the stability and prosperity of both Kosovo and the region. The Czech Republic supports reforms in the area of rule of law implemented in Kosovo in order to reach visa liberalisation with the EU Member States.
