Within the framework of providing foreign development aid by the Czech Republic, Kosovo belongs to the priority countries - the so-called "project countries". In Kosovo the Czech Republic has, in long term, been focusing on projects targeted at minority groups, especially on handicapped persons (blind, deaf), and on national minorities. Other target group has been focused on artistically talented young Kosovars. Within the above mentioned areas the Czech Republic supports projects concentrating on education, social inclusion and assistance in entering the job market. Besides these areas the Czech Republic in Kosovo also implements projects in the sector of water supply and sewerage systems.
The Czech Republic’s development projects in Kosovo can be split down as follows: the so-called large projects, implemented by the Czech Development Agency; small local projects coordinated by the Czech Embassy in Pristina; TRANS projects (human rights and transformation policy); projects of external diplomacy; and projects implemented via UNDP. In 2012 and 2013 the Czech Republic also contributed to educational projects of the OSCE mission in Kosovo (OMIK-OSCE Mission in Kosovo).
Czech development projects have been implemented over the entire territory of Kosovo including the four North-Kosovo municipalities, largely consisting of Kosovo-Serbian community.
