Gala Concert of the violinist Mr Pavel Šporcl and the pianist Petr Jiříkovský on the ocassion of the Czech Statehood Day

On 22nd October 2013, the Czech Embassy in Pristina organized a gala concert on the ocassion of the Czech Statehood Day (28th October 1918, Declaration of the Indepenedent Czechoslovakia). The most outstanding Czech vilonist Mr Pavel Šporcl and pianist Mr Petr Jiříkovský performed at the concert.
Similarly as last year, the Czech Embassy organized a classical music concert in the Palace of Youth´s Red Hall in Pristina. Musicians Pavel Šporcl and Petr Jiříkovský performed masterpieces of the classical Czech composers (Bedřich Smetana, Antonín Dvořák) as well as pieces by the most outstanding Czech violin masters (Ferdinand Laub, František Ondříček, Jan Kubelík, Jaroslav Kocian) and a piece by the violinist Pavel Šporcl himself.
Representatives of the Republic of Kosovo participated in the concert such as the former President of the Republic Mr Fatmir Sejdiu, the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court, representative of the Chief State Prosecution, professors of the University of Pristina, writers, journalists, music critics, actors, Chairmen and members of the Association of the Blind and the Association of the Deaf Persons, Director and staff of the Blind School in Pejë/Peć supported by the Czech Development Cooperation, participants of the European Summer Music Academy (a project initiated by the Czech Embassy in Pristina) etc.
The international community was widely represented at the gala concert. The Czech Embassy was honoured to host most of the Ambassadors of the European Union´s accredited Member States, the Ambassador of the USA, other representatives of the diplomatic corps, the Head and Deputy Head of the EULEX Mission, the Commander and Deputy Commander of KFOR, UNMIK Special Representative of the Secretary General, Czech citizens working in the missions/international organisations and friends of the Czech Republic.
More than 350 guests attended the concert. The exceptional performance of both musicians was accepted with great enthusiasm and received standing ovations.
