Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic visited Palestine

On November 5 and 6, 2014, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Lubomír Zaorálek, visited Palestine. In Ramallah, H.E. Lubomír Zaorálek met with H.E. Mr. Mahmoud Abbás, President, H.E. Mr. Rami Hamadallah, Prime Minister and H.E. Mr. Riyad Malki, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, both sides reaffirmed strong interest in further development of Czech-Palestinian relationship and came to an agreement to establish Joint Inter-governmental Committee that will be chaired by ministers of foreign affairs. H.E. Mr. Riyad Malki accepted the invitation to visit the Czech Republic in first half of 2015 and both ministers expressed their interest to organize first session of Joint Inter-governmental Committee on the margins of this official visit. H.E. Mr. Lubomír Zaorálek, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic reassured his Palestinian counterparts that the Czech Republic continuously supports two-state solution as the only possible outcome of Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He also declared his support to the Palestinian government of national unity and has stressed the need of preventing any further escalation of the situation in Jerusalem.

On November 5, H.E. Mr. Zaorálek visited city of Bethlehem. Accompanied by representatives of local authorities, he visited Aida refugee camp, Church of the Nativity and historical centre of the city. He also visited the Holy Family Hospital where the Representative Office of the Czech Republic implements in cooperation with the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta development cooperation project.
