Piano Recital at Al-Quds University on the Occasion of Inauguration of Petrof Grand Piano

On Sunday August 26, 2012 the Al-Quds University College of Music in cooperation with the Czech Representative Office in Ramallah organized a piano recital at Hind al-Husseini Campus in Sheikh Jarrah, East Jerusalem. The concert was held on the occasion of the inauguration of Petrof Grand Piano donated to the Jerusalem College of Music by the Czech Republic in the framework of development assistance.
The project aims to support the emergingJerusalem Collegeof Music at Al-Quds University, providing young Palestinians with the access to high level education in the field of music.
The concert was well attended. The dean of Al-Quds University Prof. Sari Nusseibeh, as well as representatives of several European countries appeared it the audience. The evening started with a performance of Hiba Harhash dance group, followed by a ceremonialunveiling of the Petrof Grand Piano. The pianist AnnaMagdalena Kokits afterwards played pieces from works of Bedřich Smetana, Leos Janáček and FelixMendelsson.
The Al-Quds University Collegeof Music inaugurates a new piano studies cycle in winter term 2012/2013.
