Czech Street Party 2010

The biggest Czech event of 2010 in Brussels is co-organised by the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU, the capital of Prague, the Pilsen region, the Moravian-Silesian region and representations of other Czech regions as well as of companies and institutions. It is held under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Kohout.

Czech Street Party 2010 will take place on Friday, 25 June 2010, on Rue Caroly in front of the buildings of the Czech Permanent Representation and the Czech House. This year, the event carries the slogan “10 years of the Czech regions”. The entry is free for all!

The fourth installment of the Czech Street Party in Brussels will once again bring some of the best Czech bands to Brussels – namely, Support Lesbiens, Tleskač, NiceLand, Bek Ofis and Kočko Ochestr. This year’s Street Party will no doubt be as successful as the 2009 Czech Street Party, which attracted a large international audience.

Czech Street Party will start with opening of stalls of individual Czech regions and institutions which will represent their local specialties. You will not only have the opportunity to taste the most famous Czech beers and wines but also, for example, the traditional mead.


The headliner, Support Lesbiens with its front man Kryštof Michal, is one of the most popular Czech bands. Since it started playing in 1992, the band has won numerous awards, for instance the most prestigious Czech Music Award “Angel” in 2002 for the best band and album of the year. Furthermore, it came first in the MTV World Chart Express with their single “Cliché”. Other well-known tracks include „Životní“, „Bet My Soul“ or „Sweet Little Something“.

Tleskač, hailing from Pilsen, will rock Rue Caroly with their ska music. The band has been hailed for a number of great tracks such as „Příběh Jana Tleskače“.

NiceLand, led by Michal Motyčka, is one of the most talented bands on the Czech music scene. It has alread won a number of awards, for instance the Coca Cola Pop Star Award in 2007, TV Óčko Newcomer of The Year in 2008, or the Report Magazine – Žebřík Newcomer of 2008. The band, currently working on its second album, won plaudits especially for its singles “Come on” or “Lost in Encryption”.

Bek Ofis, founded in 2002, represents the Prague pop-rock scene. The band is composed of Jan J. Nedvěd and his “permanent guests” – Jakub Jakubec, Jan Maxián and Michal Havel. Their brillant single “Get Away” hit No 3 in the Eurohitparade charts. They won a large following with songs like „For The Truth You Must Fight“ or „I Can See“.

Kočko Orchestr, founded by Tomáš Kočko, represents world music inspired by traditional Moravian music and influenced by rock, acoustic and ethnic music as well as jazz. Its album “Poplór“ was awarded the "Angel" Czech Music Award in 2006 in the World Music – Album of the Year category.
