Under the title „Goodbye, Jan“ 25 photographs of Jan Saudek are the inaugural exhibition of recently opened Czech Centre Seoul. With this small selection of Saudek´s retrospective, which toured galleries in Seoul, Chuncheon, Daegu, Gwangju and Busan in the last twelve months, Korean public can bid farewell to works of this world famous Czech photographed until June 21, 2013..

JEONJU - Franz Kafka meets film

A special section dedicated to German-writing author from Prague, Franz Kafka, is a part of Jeonju International Film Festival from April 25 to May 3, 2013. Six feature and four short films are to be screened, selected by Czech film expert Michal Procházka. An exhibition Kafka and Prague is also to be seen at Jeonju film plaza.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Czech-American Emil Kapaun awarded for his gallantry during the Korean War

Born in a small hamlet founded by some 40 Czech immigrants in the middle of Kansas, and named after famous Czech city of Pilsen, Emil Joseph Kapaun (1916-1951) is to be awarded Medal of Honor, highest US military award by US President Barack Obama on April 11, 2013. Among some 3400+ recipients in last 150 years, Kapaun is only the third Czech receiving such a honor, after Prague-born flagbearer Leopold Karpeles, who was fighting bravely during the Civil War, and William J. Lukes, native of Northern Bohemia, who took part in an infamous 1871 Korean campaign and took part in US attack at Ganghwa Island.

PRAGUE - Korean Air to buy a stake in Czech Airlines

The Czech government has approved Korean Air bid for a 44% stake in the state-owned carrier Czech Airlines (ČSA) on March 13, 2013. Korean Air has offered to pay 2.64 million euros ($ 3.44 million) for Czech Airlines´s stake and to use its base at Václav Havel Airport at Prague as the European hub for the Korean carrier. The contract between Czech Airlines and Korean Air is to be signed in the second week of April.

Ambassador of the Czech Republic Jaroslav Olša, jr. took part in the 1st Global Media Forum co-hosted by Arirang TV and Korea Foundation from February 21-24, 2013 at Grand Hilton Seoul. Roughly 300 media experts from all over the world came to Seoul to attend this conference and take part in discussions on „Bridging the Divide“. At the forum, they discussed the role of global media outlets in today’s internationalized world.

PRAGUE - top photographer exhibits his works from two-years-long stay in Korea

A photographic exhibition "A Beautiful Strange Dream" by top German-born Czech photogrpaher Björn Steinz is now showing in Prague. Twenty-two photographs made during his two-years-long stay in the country, where he taught photography at prestigious Keimyung Univesity at Daegu, show both the known and unknown faces of the whole Republic of Korea, from the Southern islands up to the DMZ.

SEOUL - Treasures of Czech modern art on show at NMOCA

The most representative collection of Czech modern art from the collections of National Gallery of Prague is on show at National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul. It showcases 107 carefully selected paintings by 28 different Czech artists and covers the time span between 1895 and 1943.
