CHANGWON – Czech group O.M.G. won K-Pop World Festival

Czech eight-member girl group O.M.G. (Oh My Girls) took the grand prize in the performance category with their sexy dancing to a medley of Girls’ Generation hits. They competed with 43 international participants from 15 countries who sang and danced to their favorite K-pop songs.


This year’s K-Pop World Festival took place in Changwon on October 26, 2012 gathering more than 15,000 K-pop fans from across the world. Going above and beyond other singing and dancing competitions, the 2nd annual K-Pop World Festival brought world K-pop fans together in Korea to give them a chance to establish friendships with each other and to experience the Korean lifestyle. From among the original 50,000 contestants hailing from 32 countries, only 15 teams advanced to the final round.

This year’s grand prizes worth KRW 10 million were awarded to Nadya & Marwah from Indonesia and O.M.G. from the Czech Republic, both of the groups received a trophy and approximately $10,000 in prize money. The Indonesian team scored Sistar’s ”Ma Boy” on guitar, ending up creating a good emotional song. The team from the Czech Republic showed off their brilliant dancing skills to Girls’ Generation’s hit songs ”Gee,” ”Run Devil Run,” and ”The Boys.”

On the same day, Korean groups Secret, A-Pink, TVXQ, MBLAQ, FT Island, and BAP shared the stage in a celebration of the music festival, delighting their fans. “It is so meaningful in that the K-Pop World Festival brings together K-pop fans from all across the world,” said MBLAQ in an interview during the event. The K-Pop World Festival was aired on KBS2 on November 3 and also on the KBS World channel available in 73 nations.

Miloš Sklenka of the Embassy of the Czech Republic also participated in the finals in Changwon. And after O.M.G.´s success, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Korea Jaroslav Olša, jr., also received all the girls to congratulate them with this extraordinary success. All of the girls also received a CD with a performance of Korean adaptation of famous Czech musical Jack the Ripper. Written by Vašo Patejdl, its Korean adaptation had Song Min from Super Junior as its main actor-singer.
