한-체코 양국간의 상호 정치 교류는 1992년 바쯜라프 하벨 체코 대통령의 한국 방문이후 많은 발전이 있었다.
The development of bilateral political relations between then CSF and the ROK culminated by the visit of President Vaclav Havel in the ROK in April 1992.
In June 1993 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the newly established Czech Republic J. Zieleniec and in September 1993 the Minister of Economy K. Dyba visited the ROK In June 1993 President of the CR V. Havel received the then Chairman of the opposition leader, later the President of the ROK Kim Dae Jung. Within a visit of the Prime-Minister of the CR V. Klaus in the ROK in October 1994 the Agreement on abolishing visa regime was signed. In June 1995 the President of the ROK Kim Yong Sam visited the CR and the Agreement on the cooperation in science and technology was signed.
MPs of the National Assembly of the ROK visited Prague in the first half of the nineties in 1990 and 1993. In the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the CR there was established a Parliamentary Group of Friendship between the CR and the ROK and similar Group of Korean-Czech Friendship was established in the National Assembly of the ROK.
In May 1999 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the CR J. Kavan visited the ROK. Talks were focused mainly on balancing bilateral trade, Korean investments to the CR, security on the Korean Peninsula, membership of the CR in KEDO, question of the membership of the CR in ASEM and development of bilateral relations.
In September 1999 the Minister of Industry and Trade of the CR M. Gregr visited the ROK. Talks were focused mainly on deepening bilateral economic and trade relations. M. Gregr offered to the Korean side a lot of high-quality Czech products mainly from the machine, chemical, energy and military industries. Korean side expressed its wish for further investments to the CR.
In October 1999 the Deputy-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the ROK Sun Joun Yung visited the CR for consultations.
In May 2000 Director General of Cultural Bureau of MOFAT Kim Seung Eui visited the CR and On May 17 signed a bilateral Program of Cooperation in the Field of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture for 2000-2002.
In May 2000 a delegation of the Commission for Emergency of the Office of the Prime-Minister of the ROK at a head with its Director general Duk Woo Lee visited the CR.
In September 2000 the Minister of Finance of the ROK Jin Nyum accompanied by the Governor of the Bank of Korea took part in the session of the IMF in Prague.
In October 2000 the Deputy-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the CR H. Kmonicek visited the ROK for consultations.
In December 2000 the 2nd session of the Czech-Korean Commission for Economic and Trade Cooperation was held in Seoul. The Czech delegation was lead by the Deputy-Minister of Industry and Trade J. Maceska.
On March 15-17, 2001 the Prime-Minister of the CR M. Zeman visited the ROK accompanied by the Deputy-Prime Minister and Minister of Finance P. Mertlik, the Minister of Industry and Trade M. Gregr, the Minister of Agriculture J. Fencl and a group of Czech businessmen. Both sides expressed their interest to focus especially on deepening trade and economic bilateral cooperation, foreign investments and cooperation on third markets. Within the visit involvement of Czech companies in the KEDO project in the DPRK was discussed. Both sides welcomed joining Czech Airlines a Sky Team, whose member is also Korean Air, and expressed their wish to establish a direct flight route between Seoul and Prague. Prime-Minister M. Zeman confirmed his personal affinity for EXPO 2010 being held in the ROK.
The visit of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the CR headed by its chairman L. Zaoralek in Seoul in April 26-29, 2001 considerably enlarged bilateral relations between both National Assemblies. During talks especially political situation on the Korean Peninsula and deepening and enlarging Czech-Korean bilateral relations were discussed.
On May 3-6, 2001 the Deputy-Chairman of the National Assembly of the ROK Hong Sa-duk visited the CR and was received by chairmen of both chambers of the National Assembly of the CR.
On September 3-7, 2001 the Minister of Culture of the CR P. Dostal paid a visit to the ROK. His visit was also aimed to ensure the Korean side about support of the Government of the CR to establishing an exposition of Korean art in the National Gallery in Prague.
On September 20-28, 2001 the Deputy-Minister of Regional Development of the CR C. Sajda visited Seoul as the head of the Czech delegation at the World Tourism Organisation.
On October 20-28, 2001 the President of the Supreme Audit Office of the CR L.Volenik participated in the 17th INCOSAI (International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions) Congress in Seoul.
On February 19-21, 2002 the Minister of Finance of the CR Jiri Rusnok visited Seoul as a follow-up of the PM official visit to the ROH in March 2001, focused on streghtening bilateral economic cooperation and inflow of direct investments into the CR from the ROK.
On May 15-19, 2002 the First Deputy-Minister of Regional Development of the CR Jiri Durcok visited Seoul and Kwangju. The Czech side suggested to conclude an agreement between the Ministry of Regional Development of the CR and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the ROK on cooperation in the filed of tourism.
On November 9-13, 2002 the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the CR for multilateral relations Pavel Vosalik visited Seoul as the head of the Czech delegation at the Second Ministersial Conference of Community of Democracies.
On June 29 - July 1, 2003 the Prime-Minister of the Republic of Korea Goh Kun paid an official visit to the Czech Republic. He was received by the President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus and had talks with his Czech counterpart Vladimir Spidla.
Between August 25 and September 1, 2003 the Deputy-Minister of Education of the CR Karel Hrdy visited Universiade in Taegu.
The Third Session of the Joint Czech-Korean Economic Committee was held in Prague on November 26-27, 2003. The Korean delegation was headed by Kim Hyun Chong, Deputy Minister for Trade, MOFAT, the Czech delegation was headed by Dr Miroslav Somol, Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade.
On March 28-April 2, 2004 the Vice-Minister of Environment of the CR Tomas Novotny visited the ROK as the head of the Czech delegation for the 8th Special Session of the Governing Council of the UNEP/Global Ministerial Environment Forum on Jeju.
On April 19-22, 2004 the President of the Office for Protection of Competition of the Czech Republic Josef Bednar participated at the 3rd ICB Seoul Conference and Seoul Competition Forum 2004.
In August 2004 the delegation of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea visited the Czech Republic. During the visit the delegation was received by the Deputy-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr Petr Kolar on August 10, 2004.
On September 7-11, 2004 the Minister of Informatics of the Czech Republic Mr Vladimir Mlynar visited the Republic of Korea. During his visit he participated at the conference and the fair ITU Telecom Asia 2004 in Busan and had talks with the Minister of Information and Communication Mr Chin Dea-je about strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Czech Republic and the R.O.K.
On December 7-11, 2004 six members of the Defense and Security Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic headed by the Committee Chairman Mr. Jan Vidim visited the R.O.K. The delegation was received by Mr. Kim One-ki, Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Chung Dong-young, Minister of Unification, and had talks with the Chairman of the Uri Party Mr. Lee Bu-young as well as with the Defence Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
The delegation of the Czech Parliament, headed by its Chairman Mr Lubomir Zaoralek, visited South Korea from May 24 to May 26, 2005. In Seoul they met Mr Kim Won-ki, Chairman of the National Assembly, and Mr Ban Ki-moon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Mr Zaoralek arrived in Seoul from Pyongyang.
Deputy-Minister for Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic Mr Petr Kolar visited Korea in may 26-28, 2005 as the head of the Czech delegation at the 1st Czech-Korean Joint Commission on Science and Technology held in Seoul.
