Collegium Marianum in Stockholm

The Prague Baroque Ensemble Collegium Marianum successfully presented to the Swedish audience a concert titled Virtuoso Bohemia, which was part of the prestigious Stockholm Early Music Festival.

The concert of the Prague Baroque Ensemble Collegium Marianum, which was part of the prestigious Stockholm Early Music Festival (SEMF, 4th – 8th of June, 2014).took place in the beautiful premises of the German church in the Stockholm´s Gamla Stan on 5th of June, 2014 The concert titled Virtuoso Bohemia presented the music of violin virtuosos and composers as H.I.F Biber, J.J.I. Brentner, F. Jiránek or A. Reichnauer. Flutist and leader of the Ensemble Jana Semerádová performed also at the opening ceremony of the SEMF the day before.

 The concert, which was broadcasted live by Swedish Radio (Sverige Radio P2) was opened by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Mrs. Jana Hynková and moderated by the  Swedish specialist on early music Vassilis Bolonassos. The concert was prepared in close cooperation of the Czech Center Stockholm, SEMF and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm and it was also conceived as a celebration of the Year of Czech Music 2014 in Sweden.

The concert of Collegium Marianum was met with very positive feedback from the guests - representatives of the City of Stockholm and of the Swedish public life, diplomats, general public and experts).

 Since it was founded in 1997, the Prague ensemble Collegium Marianum has focused on presenting the music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, especially by composers who were born or active in central Europe. One of the few professional ensembles specialising in this field in the Czech Republic, Collegium Marianum not only gives musical performances, but regularly also stages scenic projects. Since 1999 the ensemble has been under the artistic leadership of the traverso player Jana Semerádová who also regularly appears as a soloist with some of the eminent European orchestras.
