National Day and 25 years from the Velvet Revolution

The Embassy of the Czech Republic celebrated the National Day, October 28 – the Day of the Independent Czechoslovak State, and the 25th Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. Speaker of the Riksdag, Mr. Ahlin celebrated together.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic together with the guests from the Swedish institutions and public life, from the diplomatic corps as well as together with the Czech compatriots living in Sweden celebrated the National Day, October 28 - the Day of the Independent Czechoslovak State, and the 25th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in 1989 on the eve of the National Day, on October 27.

 The Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Jana Hynková, opened the celebration and introduced shortly the historical facts and the importance of both dates. Then the speaker of the Swedish parliament Riksdag, Mr. Urban Ahlin, praised excellent bilateral relations between Sweden and the Czech Republic and expressed the interest on further deepening of the mutual cooperation. He spoke about the importance of the year 1989, the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia and the political changes in the country as well as in the Central Europe. Minister of Defence of Sweden Mr. Peter Hultqvist participated on the celebration at the Embassy as well expressing his interest on further cooperation.
