(This article expired 04.12.2016 / 04:32.)

Children of 4 to16 years of age are invited to send their entries to the next international fine art exhibition Lidice until 28th February 2014. Children from some 70 countries participate every year.

The International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice (ICEFA Lidice) was established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice murdered by German Nazis, as well as all other children who have died in wars.

Although national initially, this exhibition became an international one in 1973 and since then it has become well known among children and teachers not only in our country but literally all over the world. In late years, 25,000 pieces of art arrived regularly not only from the Czech and Slovak republics but also from other 70 countries, including exotic ones such as China, India, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Philippines, Srí Lanka or Zimbabwe.

Children from Australia and New Zealand participated last year for the first time and already successfully. Two young painters Viktor Širůček (9 years) and Talia Vasitch (6 years)  from the Czech School in Melbourne were rewarded with Honourable mentions. Talia was at the time of the ceremonial exhibiton opening in the Czech Republic and could travel to Lidice, where the diploma was handed to her. The Consulate of the Czech Republic in Sydney congratulates to Viktor and Talia. Well done.

As 2014 has been declared by the United Nations the International Year of Family Farming, the 42nd edition of the exhibitin has a theme Family farming, or Our Garden and Field.
