Czech presence at Fine Food Australia in Sydney

(This article expired 14.09.2014 / 04:09.)

FINE FOOD Fair is one of the largest exhibitions in the food industry in Australia. It was particularly pleasant to see Czech products present at the fair. Australian hospitality and food industries remain, however, area with unrealized potential for Czech exporters.

Among the renowned domestic and international exhibitors were also represented  Czech products, specifically the convection ovens of Czech hospitality equipment manufacturer RETIGO.

The company produces not only RETIGO combi-steamers,but also devices for shock heating and cooling of food and other equipment for gastronomy.

Retigo company was built from the scratch without any foreign capital. The production began in 1993 in a garage where the first unit was assembled. In 1994, bigger space was rented in a nearby factory. In 1998 the company moved into own premises to which a production hall was added in 2001. In 2004 additional space had to be rented. Meanwhile, next expansion of the production hall was planned. In 2005 the construction started and finished in 2006. The new hall contributed to the expansion of company’s premises which are now spread over the area of 6000 square meters.

Retigo is present in Australia since 2005 and finds the way to its customers in a highly competitive market through its manufacture precision, low energy and water consumption and excellent customer support.

Retigo exports to 25 European and several Asian countries, Australia and South Africa.

Despite the single Czech presence at Sydney´s Fine Food, there are several Czech products already distributed in Australia. Just to name few Czech beer brands: Pilsner Urquell, Budweiser, Radegast, Bernard, Žatec, Kozel, Staropramen and other beverages such as Becherovka, Absinth, Leros and mineral waters.

Further opportunities in Australian hospitality industry certainly exist for other Czech manufacturers (such as RM GASTRO, ABNER, ALBA HOROVICE, UNIS COOL etc.) interested in cooperation with Australian and New Zealand distributors.
