Transporting Firearm and/or Ammunition to the Czech Republic

Basic Facts about Transporting a Firearm and/or Ammunition to the Czech Republic

If you are travelling to the Czech Republic with a firearm and/or ammunition, you must present to the Immigration Officer with a Firearms Permit. You will also need such a permit if you are sending the firearms or ammunition to the Czech Republic by mail.

The application shall be lodged at the earliest 30 days before entry the Czech Republic. The maximum validity of the Firearms Permit is 3 months. To apply for the Firearms Permit is possible in person or by mail/post.

 

To obtain the Firearms Permit through the Consulate, please follow the instructions below:

1. Complete and sign the application form (see below), signature must be verified by Justice of Peace. The electronic signatures will not be accepted.

2. Copy of the valid passport and drivers licence - photocopy must be verified by Justice of Peace

3. Submit a copy of your Firearms License - photocopy must be verified by Justice of Peace

4. Submit a copy of your Firearm Registration Certificate for each firearm entered on the application form - photocopy must be verified by Justice of Peace. (The name of the weapon owner and/or the number of the Firearms License must be stated on the Firearms Registration Certificate along with information and signature of the officer the certificate was issued by).

5. Submit an official invitation from the Czech Republic (if applicable e.g. sporting events) in original with signature verified by Czech Authorities in the Czech Republic. This document could also be presented as a printed copy, provided that the signature is verified by Czech Authorities in the Czech Republic.

6. Download, print and sign the Requirements for holders of a Firearms Waybill (Permit) - two copies.

To apply by mail/post at the Consulate General in Sydney:

1. Please enclose a self-addressed Registered Post or Express Post envelope for Australia (For New Zealand/Fiji – applicants have to arrange courier collection and delivery of issued Firearms Permit by themselves).

2. Please always provide your full address, email and phone number with your application.

3. The Consulate will send information regarding the fee and payment instructions to your email, after we receive the complete application. The fee will be waived if an official invitation to an international shooting competition is submitted along with the application.

The Firearms Permit will be issued by our office within a week and at the earliest 30 days before entry to the Czech Republic after the Consulate General has received your complete application. This document will be sent in the pre-paid envelope that you provided with your application (For New Zealand/Fiji – applicants have to arrange courier collection and delivery of issued Firearms Permit by themselves).
