TAIWAN to be the first region of LED Headlamps Mass production in 2008

Taiwan Automobile Research & Technology Center (ARTC) signed with 4 domestic automobile optoelectronics companies to set about mass production for LED headlamps in April, 2008, and if it's reached successfully, ?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 /?> Taiwan will be the first region to mass production LED headlamps.

With the successful result of "LED Headlamps Research Project" with Department of Industrial Technology (DOIT), ARTC combined with DEPO, Everlight, AMA precision and Epistar to form the " Advanced LED AM Mass Production Union", which will devote to develop LED headlamps production .

Compared to other lighting sources, LED lighting is smaller, longevity and over 50% more electricity-saving, so it's definitely the future trend of headlamps. At present, the whole world is actively to research and improve this technology; however, most of them are only on the first stage of R&D, large behind the mass production, and the major reason is professions must to overcome some technique issues about heat sink. Nevertheless, the LED lamps from ARTC have conquered the problem and now ready for the next step.

ARTC media spokesman, Mr. Su indicates, "This Research project has been proceeding for over two years, now it's is stepping up toward the mass production." Taking a broad view, rumor says LEXUS is the only one who is going to announce the LED equipped vehicle in 2008, but it might be delayed because it hasn't been confirmed until now.
