Minimum space requirements for accommodation
To review the quality of accommodation when applying for a long-stay visa a minimum space requirements of the accommodation units have been laid down.
According to the § No. 100. letter d) of the Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on the Residence of Aliens in the Territory
of the Czech Republic and its amendments, in connection with the § 53 article 4 letter a) and second sentence
of § 53 article 4 of the public notice of the Ministry for Regional Development No. 137/1998 Col., on general technical
requirements for construction building, minimum space standarts are specified to provide good quality and
adequate accommodation. The minimum space requirements are as follows :
a) 8 square metres, if one person is accommodated;
b) 12,6 square metres, if two persons are accommodated;
c) if more than two persons are accommodated, 12,6 square metres + 5 square metres for every
additional person accommodated.
If the accommodation unit does not meet the above mentioned criteria, the application for a long stay visa
can be rejected.
