Visit of the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Estonia

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Petr Drulák visited Estonia on 6th and 7th of March 2014. He attended the meeting of foreign ministers of Nordic, Baltic and Visegrad countries in Narva. The bilateral meetings also took place in Riigikogu and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Petr Drulák met Tõnis Kõiv and Mailis Reps, members of the Estonia-Czech parliamentary group and Alar Streimann, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions were mainly devoted to Czech-Estonian relations that are excellent at the moment, but it was also agreed that there is still untapped potential in economic cooperation, both bilaterally and within the EU Single Market. International situation, including Ukraine, was addressed as well.

First Deputy Minister Petr Drulák took part in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Nordic, Baltic and Visegrad countries in Narva. The cooperation of the participating countries in security, defence, energy and transport was intensively discussed, but crises in Ukraine dominated. Ministers condemned the unprovoked violation on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed their disapproval concerning the illegitimate referendum in Crimea on accession to the Russian Federation. The ministers considered it essential to deploy a European Union led observation mission as soon as possible.


Participating at the meeting in Narva on March 6-7 at the invitation of foreign minister Paet (as representative of the Presidency of the Nordic and Baltic cooperation NB8) Hungarian Foreign Minister János Martonyi (as representative of the Presidency of the Visegrad cooperation V4) were Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, Danish Foreign Minister Martin Lidegaard, Norwegian State Secretary Hans Brattskar, Iceland's Foreign Minister Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs, Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrius Krivas, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Petr Drulák, Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák.
