Persons can be praised regardless nationality and ethnicity, regardless of their country of origin and their current residence. One’s nomination is based upon their long-term activities that go beyond their professional duties or by a significant act that purposefully contributed to promoting the good name of the Czech Republic abroad. Among organizations, civic foundations, civic associations and other non-government organisations, such as expatriate clubs and humanitarian organizations, can receive this award as well.

In the case of expatriates´ associations abroad, maintaining awareness, traditions and language of Czech minorities in a foreign environment is considered honourable.

Proposals may be made by anyone, either directly to the Department of Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Loretánské náměstí 5, 118 00 Prague 1, Czech Republic, or via the Czech embassies abroad.

Proposals must be submitted in written form and must contain:

1) In case the nominee is a person

    - name, surname, date of birth, nationality and permanent address of the proposed person

    - brief biography

    - reasons for proposal

2) In case the nominee is an institution

    - basic data

    - brief description of the organization

    - history and overview of its existence

    - reasons for proposal

Proposals sent directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are to be submitted latest 31.12. each year. Proposals submitted through the Czech Embassy in Tbilisi must be delivered latest 31.10. each year. Number of awards granted is about 10 per year. Candidacy of unselected candidates shall not be moved to the next year, however the nomination of the same candidate can be repeated next year again.
